Landon Blair
Johnny Frohlichstein

O-Week Coordinators

If you’re at all familiar with the concept of spirit animals, you will soon understand that the single best way to describe Johnny Frohlichstein is through his own: the golden retriever. And the similarities extend far beyond his fluffy golden locks. Don’t worry, Johnny won’t lick your face or anything. But he is definitely known for his own preferred display of affection, the hug that lasts far longer than you’d expect it to last. Like his canine counterpart, Johnny can get excited over just about anything and will most definitely have fun doing it. He’s always down for an adventure in Houston or even exploring the more obscure areas of Rice campus. On a typical day within the hedges, he can be found giving campus tours,  acing psychology exams, or somehow managing to derp his way through the afternoon with his friends. And if he’s not doing any of that, he’s more than likely frolicking around the intramural fields chasing after a frisbee. But the most important similarity between Johnny and the golden retriever is his uncanny ability to love and accept just about anyone before he even gets to know them. Think like the talking dog from the movie Up who introduces himself with “I have just met you, and I love you.” That’s pretty much what you can expect from Johnny when you first drive up to Lovett College and see him with a megaphone, cheering your name. So get ready for an incredible O-Week and know that you can always count on Johnny because, like his spirit animal, he will do just about anything to make you smile.

Landon Blair. What a guy. Also known as “Dudemandon”, “Lando”, or “Braj”, Landon was gifted from the gods (although he tries to hide it with his modesty) with devilish charm, absurd intellect, unfairly good looks, a ridiculously great singing voice, superior athleticism, mad photography skills, and witty humor. It just doesn’t make sense. Landon is also heavily involved on campus as a member of his a cappella group, the Nocturnals, as a manager at Willy’s Pub, as Club Volleyball captain, and as one of Lovett’s Academics Coordinators. But don’t be fooled. Underneath his ludicrous talent and involvement, Landon is just a regular guy who enjoys coffee, sports, video games, and Netflix binging. He’s more than happy to share his passion for astrophysics with you or to listen attentively as you geek out about your own passions, and is always able to offer insightful and appropriate advice. He is the type of friend that you can simultaneously look up to, relate with, and always rely on. If Landon is your Coordinator, rest assured, you could not be luckier to have him.

As much as you want to, never call her cute. Better words are tough, strong, and of course, sexy. Standing just under five feet tall, Nicki Chamberlain-Simon may look small, but no Powerderpuff pass ever goes over her head. Think you could challenge her? Think again. At the mention of competition, Nicki is in the zone, and will hand you your butt on a plate, whether it’s pool, or softball, or Mario Kart, or Powder Puff, or soccer… did I get everything? Probably not, Nicki is on every possible sports team for Lovett and brought home the most points for the Presidents Cup out of everyone in the junior class (so even you boys will have nothing on her) (yeah we like to brag about her, she’s kinda awesome)

Hailing from Chicago, Nicki has the classic ChicAIgan twang that we lovingly make fun of (and you should feel free to do so yourself). She has killer taste in music, so if you want to jam, feel free to knock on her door. Better yet, she’ll break out the ukulele and you’ll sing your heart out. Nicki loves puns so if you find a good one, share it and you’ll hear her contagious laugh. Want to go on an adventure? Nicki’s your girl. On and off campus she’s always game to experience something new. But….you might want to tell her about 30 minutes before you actually want to leave because this girl is jam-packed busy and just a tad forgetful, but never fails to make time for the people she cares about.

Nicki is the sweetest, most down to earth friend, and one of the best people you could ever ask to coordinate your O-week. This clever BioE will lend a hand with any problem set, paper, or life issue you may have. We would want no other person by our side in college and we know you’ll feel the same. Did we mention she’s kinda awesome?
